Peter Gagliardo, Adapted Sports & Recreation Coordinator

Helen Hayes Hospital in West Haverstraw, New York, has appointed Peter Gagliardo as the hospital’s new Adapted Sports & Recreation Coordinator. Gagliardo will direct the hospital’s four-season Adapted Sports & Recreation Program, one of the largest and most comprehensive adapted sports programs in the country, offering programs including kayaking, waterskiing, sled hockey, softball, golf, power soccer and more.

Gagliardo, who became a paraplegic after a 2006 motorcycle accident, has served as a nationally certified peer mentor for Helen Hayes Hospital patients for 11 years. He is an active disability advocate, speaking at conferences and volunteering his time to create change. An avid adapted sports proponent and participant, Gagliardo competes on the HHH Helen’s Angels handcycling team, has completed over 30 marathons and played an instrumental role in the creation of Roll Call Wheelchair Dance.

Landon Brown, MD

Landon Brown, MD, has joined Orthopedic Associates of Dutchess County as a joint replacement specialist and is accepting new patients.

Dr. Brown completed his orthopedic surgery residency, serving as administrative Chief Resident during his fifth year, at Penn State Bone and Joint Institute. He then completed an additional ACGME-accredited fellowship training in Adult Total Joint Reconstructive Surgery at Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine.

Anthony L. Rios, MD

Its authors are the leaders in this field, and very few individuals are selected for the distinct honor of authorship. This textbook remains the “bible” of vascular surgery throughout the world in a rapidly advancing field in which surgeons are mandated to maintain state-of-the-art knowledge. Dr. Rios’ chapter, “Lower Extremity Amputations: Operative Techniques and Results,” provides surgeons with modern techniques to preserve function of the lower extremities.

Premier Medical Group announces that two new physicians have joined the group.

Sheeja Francis, MD, is a board-certified rheumatologist who specializes in state-of-the-art management of rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, gout, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, and many other musculoskeletal and autoimmune disorders. Dr. Francis will see patients at Premier’s Newburgh (327 Fullerton Ave.) and Fishkill (969 Main St.) locations.

Manisha Bhutani, MD, is board-certified in internal medicine and brings strong diagnostic skills and clinical expertise to Premier Medical Group. Dr. Bhutani will see patients at Premier’s Fishkill location: 400 Westage Business Center Drive.

Betty Koshy

Orange Regional Medical Center announces that Betty Koshy has been promoted to Director of Radiation Oncology. Koshy has been the manager of the Radiation Oncology Department for five years. During this time, the department consolidated operations within the Spagnoli Family Cancer Center. New programs have also been developed under Koshy’s direction, including Stereotactic Radiosurgery of the Brain and Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy.

Koshy received her MBA and a master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of Houston in 2016. She also completed an administrative residency with Veterans Affairs, which provided practical training in healthcare management.

Erin Tondini

Middletown Medical welcomes licensed family nurse practitioner Erin Tondini, who is board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, to its team of healthcare professionals.

Tondini has served professionally as both a nurse practitioner and a registered nurse. She has a wealth of experience in a variety of nursing disciplines and has worked locally at both Good Samaritan Home Care and Bon Secours Community Hospital.

Christina Mezzone, DO

Pediatrician Christina Mezzone, DO, has joined Health Quest Medical Practice in its Division of Primary Care and will work in both the Fishkill and Carmel offices. A 2003 Carmel High School graduate in the top 10 of her class, Dr. Mezzone returns to the area after fulfilling her dream of becoming a pediatrician.

Prior to joining Health Quest Medical Practice, Dr. Mezzone completed her residency at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital in Valhalla, New York, where she additionally held the position of Chief Resident.

She received her doctor of osteopathic medicine degree at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine, as well as a master’s in neuromuscular medicine from there. Dr. Mezzone holds a bachelor’s in biomedical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Jessica Wallach

A dynamic and driven human services practitioner with over a decade of experience working with offenders, at-risk youth, at-risk families and victims of crime, Jessica Wallach has been appointed Deputy Director of the Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse in Poughkeepsie. She previously worked with the organization to spearhead its Human Trafficking Initiative in 2015.

Wallach holds an MSW from Adelphi University, a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Marist College, and associate’s degrees in criminal justice and public and private security from Dutchess Community College. She volunteers with the Alzheimer’s Association.

Michael M. Zilles, MD

MidHudson Regional Hospital welcomes general orthopedic surgeon Michael M. Zilles, MD, to the hospital’s medical staff.

Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Zilles performs surgery at the hospital’s Orthopedic Center and at WMCHealth’s Advanced Orthopaedics in Fishkill. Dr. Zilles specializes in foot and ankle, hand, hip and knee, oncology, pediatrics, shoulder and elbow, spine, sports medicine, and trauma.

Dr. Zilles received his medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. He completed an internship in general surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City and a residency in orthopedic surgery at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn. He followed his residency with a fellowship in sports medicine at Graduate Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Dumisa Adams, MD

Dumisa Adams, MD, has joined Catskill Regional Medical Group (CRMG) to lead its Gynecology Department. She will see patients at the Monticello Office and will perform inpatient gynecological procedures at Catskill Regional Medical Center.

In addition to its Monticello office, CRMG has locations in Callicoon, Harris and Livingston Manor.

Dr. Adams received her medical degree from the University of Toronto and has held a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Toronto. She is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology. In addition, Dr. Adams is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Christopher Gaughan, Public Relations Director

Helen Hayes Hospital welcomes Christopher Gaughan as the hospital’s new Public Relations Director. Gaughan, who brings over 20 years of marketing, graphic design and management experience to the position, will oversee all public relations functions at the specialty physical rehabilitation hospital.

Prior to becoming a registered nurse in 2013, Gaughan served as creative director of the Marketing and Advertising departments at The Journal News. He began his career at Helen Hayes Hospital in 2016 as a hospital referral specialist in the Admissions Department, covering NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia, Allen and Weill Cornell hospitals in Manhattan. Prior to that, he worked as an RN, practicing on medical/surgical units at Good Samaritan and Valley hospitals.
